Awareness of IBCA and understanding of its role
Familiarity with IBCA
Among community members, familiarity with IBCA is high. Seven in ten (68%) know at least a fair amount about it, with one in three saying they know a lot. However, this is lower than the previous survey, where three in four (75%) said they knew at least a fair amount.
Those who know a lot or a fair amount about IBCA were more likely to have started their claim with IBCA and received compensation, a group we were less likely to hear from in this survey wave, which may explain the drop in familiarity observed (80% compared to 68%).

Understanding of IBCA
The majority of the community say they understand IBCA's role very well (83%). Among those who have received compensation, the majority (98%) said they understood the role of IBCA very or fairly well, compared to 83% overall. Those less familiar with IBCA are, expectedly, less likely to understand its role; 40% of those who knew just a little or almost nothing about IBCA did not understand the role of IBCA very well or at all.
This suggests that additional work may be needed to increase familiarity with IBCA and raise understanding of its role within the community, especially among those yet to receive compensation.
