Overview
We know that those impacted by infected blood and blood products have waited too long for compensation.
We're trying to make the service as simple and fair as possible to support you through the process. That's why we've opened the compensation service up to a small number of people first, so we can learn and improve before we invite larger numbers of people to claim.
How long the compensation scheme will run
You'll be able to make a claim until 31 March 2031 if you were diagnosed before 1 April 2025. Anyone diagnosed after 1 April 2025 will be able to make their claim for 6 years after their diagnosis. If your health gets worse or you develop a new severe health condition, you may be able to return to the scheme. Find out more in the government update on the Infected Blood Compensation Scheme.
