Welcome to the Infected Blood Compensation Authority (IBCA). We are here to pay compensation to all those who are eligible, as simply and speedily as we can.
The pain and suffering caused by the infected blood scandal continues and whilst the payment of compensation can not end it, it is one way of acknowledging the terrible wrongs that have been done.
IBCA will run the scheme that pays compensation to people impacted by the infected blood scandal, and as an arms-length body our focus will be on supporting the infected blood community. We will engage regularly and meaningfully, actively listen to the views of the infected blood community to help shape the compensation scheme and how we deliver it.
We know that years of injustice have left many in the community distrustful and often angry with state institutions. That’s why, in everything we do, IBCA will treat those in the community with respect, dignity and compassion.
In May 2024 we all welcomed the announcement that the government would set up the Infected Blood Compensation Authority as an independent arms-length body, to recognise the devastating impact of the infected blood scandal. Since my appointment as interim Chief Executive, the team and I have been working to set up the organisation and a service to begin making payments.
We are working as quickly as we can to establish an accessible service while keeping data safe and minimising the risk of fraud.
We are grateful for the community’s willingness to engage with us and help design the service to deliver compensation payments, and look forward to working with the community to get this right. I also make a personal commitment to update this community regularly, keeping you updated on the steps we take to make compensation possible.
Please keep in touch with infected blood compensation news by signing up to receive the community update.
Thank you,
David Foley
Interim Chief Executive of the Infected Blood Compensation Authority
