Compensation progress update: 23 October 2025

Published 23 October 2025
From: Infected Blood Compensation Authority

Today (23 October 2025) we have released our latest compensation figures.

All the figures on this page are correct as of 21 October 2025.

IBCA opened the register your intent service on 9 October. Since then, we have received 10,573 registrations of intent to make a compensation claim with us.

This figure represents individual registrations, not unique people or claims. This is because some people may have registered more than once, and individuals can register multiple claims.

People asked to begin compensation claims

A total of 3,614 people have been asked to start their claim. Where fewer than 10 people have been contacted in a reporting period, we don't report the increase to protect people's privacy and make sure no one can be identified.

Of this number, 3,371 have started the claim process.

Compensation offers

So far, 2,476 people have received an offer.

The total value of offers made is £1,859,967,252.75.

People paid

A total of 2,033 people have had their compensation paid.

Those who have chosen to continue receiving payments from their existing support schemes for life, with an additional compensation amount from IBCA, are described as the ‘adjusted’ route.

Those who have chosen to receive all of their compensation in a one-off compensation payment directly from IBCA, and no longer receive regular support scheme payments for life, are described as the ‘core’ route.

Payment routeNumber of people paid
People paid by adjusted route1,134
