Today (Wednesday 19 March 2025) we have released our latest compensation figures.
As of Friday 14 March 2025:
- 255 people have been asked to begin their compensation claim
- 214 people have started the claim process
- 63 offers of compensation have been made, totalling £73,037,056.66
- 40 people have accepted their offers with £44,835,807.18 paid in compensation
We committed to open our claim service to 250 people by the end of March 2025 to test and develop our service as we begin to scale up further. We have now reached this number and will continue to further increase the claims we’re processing, and in February we also set out how we will sequence the next groups of people making compensation claims.
Today’s publication coincides with the first debate on the second infected blood compensation scheme regulations being debated in the House of Lords. These regulations give IBCA the powers to make compensation payments to everyone who is eligible.
IBCA’s monthly figures currently include only the lump sum compensation payments, and not where a person has decided to receive support payments for life. This detail will be included in future publications, from April 2025 onwards.
