How IBCA confirms cirrhosis or probable cirrhosis in a person with hepatitis

There are a wide range of relevant symptoms and indicators that could suggest a person has or had cirrhosis or probable cirrhosis before they died. Their claim manager will try and collect supporting information on their behalf. That may include contacting a medical professional who has been responsible for the person's care.

Supporting information could include:

  • fibroscan scores, including the IQR percentage
  • blood test results
  • MRI scans
  • CT scans
  • biopsy test results
  • abdominal examinations and ultrasound scans
  • APRI scores
  • AST:ALT ratios
  • ALT scores
  • Child Pugh scores
  • Metavir scores
  • Ishak Fibrosis scores
  • related symptoms, such as jaundice and portal hypertension
  • treatment for related symptoms
