As you may be aware, the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Infected Blood Compensation Authority), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and we provide a response for your attention.
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Data directorate of the Infected Blood Compensation Authority. We can confirm that the information you have requested is held by the Infected Blood Compensation Authority.
You asked the following
- Please confirm how many of the reviews were IBCA initiated and how many were client initiated.
- Please also confirm how many of the 9 have had the decision unchanged.

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and have provided a response for your attention below.
From the 16 total reviews we have:
- 12 person initiated reviews, of these:
- 5 have been completed to date of which 2 were upheld and 3 were overturned (successful outcome for the client)
- 7 currently ongoing but no determination has been made yet
- 4 IBCA initiated reviews, of these:
- 4 have been completed to date and 4 resulted in a change to the decision on the claim.
