As you may be aware, the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Infected Blood Compensation Authority), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Data directorate of the Infected Blood Compensation Authority. We can confirm that the information you have requested is held by the Infected Blood Compensation Authority.

I asked one of the claims managers to advise how many Reviews IBCA had received and of these, how many had resulted in an successful outcome for the client?
Our response
We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and have provided a response for your attention below.
A total of 16 reviews have been carried out or are in the process of being carried out. This includes requested reviews and IBCA-initiated reviews.
- Of those, 7 have resulted in overturned decisions to date.
- The remaining 9 are either still in progress, or have seen the original decision maintained.
